Why go

End city hunting: midlands and highlands are the only outer biomes with cities
Shulker shells for shulker boxes
Ender pearl farming in wide open terrain

Tips

Cities appear on midlands slopes and highland tops alike - scan the whole island, not just the peak.
Java Edition only: in Bedrock the outer End is one undivided biome.
Bring ender pearls or an elytra: midlands cliffs drop straight into the void.
