Eroded Badlands
Overworld (dry/warm)
The most spectacular badlands variant: a red-sand basin filled with towering terracotta spires called hoodoos, banded in orange, red, yellow and white. Also known as mesa bryce.

Resources
- Every color of terracotta in natural strata - a free rainbow for builders
- Red sand and red sandstone
- Gold ore: badlands terrain generates extra gold up to high elevations
- Cactus, cactus flowers and dead bushes
Mobs
- Armadillos (badlands family biome)
- Rabbits
- Standard hostile mobs at night - no rain ever falls here
Structures
- Badlands mineshafts: they generate exposed at the surface with dark oak supports
Why go
- The single most photogenic biome in the game - natural hoodoo towers
- Bulk terracotta in several colors without crafting or smelting
- Surface mineshafts mean instant rails, chest loot and cave spider spawners
- Extra gold at high Y levels makes badlands the overworld gold rush
Tips
- Hoodoos only generate at low elevations inside the basins - climb for the panorama, descend for the spires
- Bring water: no rain and cactus everywhere
- Watch for cave spider spawners in the exposed mineshafts - they poison on Normal and Hard
- Terracotta colors vary by elevation band - scout the whole basin before harvesting
