Old Growth Birch Forest
Overworld (temperate)
A rare birch forest variant where half the trees grow up to 14 blocks tall - far higher than any sapling-grown birch. The extra height makes it the best wood farm biome in the game, with bee nests on some trees.

Resources
- Tall birch trees (up to 14 blocks of trunk) - tall trunks, more wood per tree
- Bee nests on a small share of trees (0.2% in Java, 0.035% in Bedrock)
- Flowers and tall grass for dyes and seeds
Mobs
- Bees around the natural nests
- Sheep, pigs, cows and chickens
- Standard hostile mobs at night
Structures
- Trail ruins can generate here (not in regular birch forests)
- Abandoned camps sometimes generate here (Java 26.3)
Why go
- The best birch wood farming: tall trunks you cannot reproduce with saplings
- Aesthetic builds with white bark and bright green canopy
- Natural bee nests for starting a honey farm
Tips
- Tall birches cannot be regrown from saplings, so harvest some and preserve others for looks.
- Trees up to 14 blocks mean a ladder or scaffolding helps for full harvests.
