Quick answer: If you die with the item in your inventory it is removed from the world instead of dropping. It does not vanish if you drop it first, store it in a container, or keep inventory is on, and it does not trigger inside shulker boxes or bundles.

- Treasure enchantment: not available in the enchanting table
- Fishing, librarian trades and structure loot
- Combine in an anvil
Best uses
Mostly a downside. A grindstone or crafting table cannot remove it, so drop the item or store it in a container before you risk dying.
