Amethyst Farm

Intermediate Java + Bedrock

Produces: Amethyst shards for spyglasses, tinted glass, calibrated sculk sensors and amethyst blocks

Quick answer: Find an amethyst geode, clear space around every budding amethyst block, and harvest the mature clusters with a Fortune III pickaxe - about 8.8 shards per cluster on average. Budding amethyst cannot be moved, so the farm is built where the geode spawned.

How it works

Materials

Build steps

  1. Locate a geode: explore caves below Y=30 and listen for the chime, or branch-mine until smooth basalt gives way to calcite and amethyst.
  2. Crack it open and mark every budding amethyst block - those faces are your crop.
  3. Clear blocks so every budding face has air in front of it; remove lava and water flows that block growth.
  4. Wall off the geode and light it to stop mob spawns - you will AFK here.

Rates

Output depends on the design, the version and how much of it you build, so we do not quote an hourly figure. Build the layout below, time it for a few minutes in your own world and scale from there.
