Chorus Fruit Farm

Intermediate Java + Bedrock

Produces: Chorus fruit (0-1 per plant block) for food and purpur blocks, plus chorus flowers to replant

Quick answer: Chorus plants grow from chorus flowers planted on end stone - in any dimension, at any light level. Harvest the fruit by chopping the trunk (everything above breaks), shoot the flowers down with arrows to replant, and re-plant to reset their age.

How it works

Materials

Build steps

  1. Harvest starters in the End: bridge to the outer islands after the dragon fight and shoot the white flowers off the treetops - arrows drop them as items; breaking the trunk first destroys them.
  2. Plant at home: end stone rows with a flower on each, spaced 3-4 blocks apart so the branching canopies do not tangle.
  3. Let them grow: flowers branch upward and outward through age 4, then finish at age 5 - taller, bushier plants mean more fruit per harvest.
  4. Harvest the fruit: chop the lowest plant block with an axe - the entire plant collapses, dropping 0-1 fruit per block.
  5. Harvest the flowers separately: shoot or break each flower directly before or after felling the plant, or they vanish.
  6. Replant immediately: each flower goes back on end stone with its age reset, ready for the next cycle.
  7. A fully grown unrestricted plant gives 1 to 8 flowers (average 3.7), and is 5 to 22 blocks tall.
  8. Eat the fruit to teleport or smelt it into popped chorus fruit for purpur.

Rates

A mature grid of 20-30 fully grown plants yields several stacks of chorus fruit per harvest cycle; plants regrow from replanted flowers in a few in-game days, and the flowers last forever.
