Honey Farm

Beginner Java + Bedrock

Produces: Honey bottles (food, honey blocks, sugar, cures poison) and honeycombs (beehives, candles, waxing copper)

Quick answer: Put a campfire under a bee nest or beehive, wait until it drips honey (level 5), then use shears for honeycombs or a glass bottle for honey. A dispenser holding shears or bottles facing the hive automates the whole thing.

How it works

Materials

Build steps

  1. Find or breed bees and place their nest or hive over a campfire, near plenty of flowers.
  2. Breed the colony to 3 bees per home using flowers, and plant more flowers within flight range.
  3. Wait for honey level 5 - the block visibly drips honey.
  4. Harvest with shears (honeycombs) or a glass bottle (honey) while the campfire smokes; never break the home without Silk Touch.
  5. Automate: a dispenser with shears or glass bottles facing the hive harvests without angering the bees; collect with hoppers.
  6. Turn honey bottles into honey blocks (4 bottles) for redstone contraptions, and honeycombs into beehives, candles or copper waxing.

Rates

A 3-bee home fills in roughly 30-60 minutes of daytime bee activityOne full hive yields 3 honeycombs or 1 honey bottle per harvestBees work only during the day and only in good weather - rain and night pause production
