Minecraft Enchantments: Complete List with Max Levels
Guide Java Bedrock
What you need
- An enchanting table with 15 bookshelves for level-30 enchants
- An anvil to combine books and gear
- XP levels and lapis lazuli
Step by step
- Armor: Protection IV, Fire Protection IV, Blast Protection IV, Projectile Protection IV and Thorns III. Protection does not cover every damage source. The four Protection types conflict on the same armor piece, not across the whole set.
- Helmet: Aqua Affinity I removes the submerged mining penalty, but not the separate penalty for floating. Respiration III extends underwater air.
- Boots (4): Feather Falling IV (less fall damage), Depth Strider III (faster swimming), Frost Walker II (walk on water as ice), Soul Speed III (faster on soul sand - treasure enchantment). Depth Strider and Frost Walker exclude each other.
- Leggings (1): Swift Sneak III (faster sneaking - treasure, found in ancient cities).
- Sword and spear: Sharpness V, Smite V, Bane of Arthropods V, Fire Aspect II, Knockback II and Looting III. Sharpness, Smite and Bane conflict. Sweeping Edge III is for swords only, and Java-only; it is not a spear enchantment.
- Spear only (1): Lunge III - launches you forward on the jab attack, costing hunger and durability.
- Mace (3): Density V (more smash damage), Breach IV (pierces armor), Wind Burst III (bounce after a smash - treasure, from ominous vaults). Density, Breach and the sword damage enchants exclude each other.
- Bow (4): Power V (damage), Punch II (knockback), Flame I (fire arrows), Infinity I (free normal arrows - conflicts with Mending).
- Crossbow (3): Quick Charge III (faster reload), Multishot I (three arrows), Piercing IV (arrows go through mobs). Multishot and Piercing exclude each other.
- Trident (4): Loyalty III (returns when thrown), Impaling V (more damage to aquatic mobs; in Bedrock, to anything in water or rain), Channeling I (summons lightning in storms), Riptide III (launch yourself in water or rain). Riptide excludes Loyalty and Channeling.
- Tools (3): Efficiency V (faster mining), Fortune III (more block drops), Silk Touch I (blocks drop themselves). Fortune and Silk Touch exclude each other.
- Fishing rod (2): Luck of the Sea III (more treasure), Lure III (faster bites).
- Universal (4): Unbreaking III (durability lasts longer), Mending I (XP repairs the item - treasure enchantment), Curse of Binding I (cannot remove the item), Curse of Vanishing I (item disappears on death).
- Treasure enchantments (no enchanting table): Mending, Frost Walker, Soul Speed, Swift Sneak, Wind Burst and the two curses - get them from books in loot, fishing, trading or vaults.
Java vs Bedrock
Protection types are incompatible on each armor piece, not across a set. Damage enchantments such as Sharpness, Smite and Bane conflict on the same weapon. Sweeping Edge is Java-only and sword-only; item eligibility matters when applying books.

Frequently asked questions
How many enchantments are there in Minecraft?
The full Java list includes Sweeping Edge, which Bedrock does not have. Both include Lunge for spears and Density, Breach and Wind Burst for maces. Cleaving belongs to Java combat tests, not the standard game.
Which enchantments are incompatible?
Sharpness/Smite/Bane of Arthropods, the four Protection types, Fortune/Silk Touch, Infinity/Mending, Depth Strider/Frost Walker, Riptide/Loyalty and Channeling, Multishot/Piercing, and Density/Breach.
What are treasure enchantments?
Enchantments you cannot get from an enchanting table: Mending, Frost Walker, Soul Speed, Swift Sneak, Wind Burst, Curse of Binding and Curse of Vanishing. They come from loot chests, fishing, bartering, vaults or villager trading.
