How to Make a Bundle in Minecraft (1.21.2)
Guide Java Bedrock
What you need
- String x1
- Leather x1
- Crafting table
Step by step
- Gather 1 string (spiders, cobwebs, cats) and 1 leather (cows, horses, fishing, bartering).
- Craft the bundle: string above leather in the grid - a two-ingredient vertical recipe.
- Fill it: right-click items onto the bundle or use the bundle on stacks in your inventory - it swallows a mix of everything.
- Count the space: a bundle has 64 slots of capacity. Items that stack to 64 use 1 slot each, ender pearls (stack of 16) use 4 each, and unstackable items take 64 - the whole bundle.
- Grab what you need: use the bundle again to pull items out, most recent first - it works like a stack, not a bag you rummage through.
- Dye it: combine a bundle with any dye for 16 color options - color-code your kits: red for combat, green for farming, blue for building.
- Use it for clutter: bundles shine for mixed small loot - flowers, dyes, seeds, buttons, nuggets - anything that would otherwise eat one inventory slot per type.
- Nest wisely: bundles can hold other bundles (carefully), and shulker boxes still win for bulk - bundles are for variety, not volume.
Java vs Bedrock
Recipe, capacity and dyeing are the same in Java and Bedrock. The modern 1-string-1-leather recipe applies to both editions from 1.21.2 onward.
Versions: Bundles existed in code since 1.17 (20w45a) but only became survival-obtainable in 1.21.2 (24w33a, Bundles of Bravery), which also simplified the recipe from rabbit hide to string and leather.
Frequently asked questions
How much can a bundle hold in Minecraft?
64 slots' worth, weighted by stack size: one slot per item for things that stack to 64, four slots each for ender pearls (16-stacks), and a full 64 for unstackables like tools. Any mix adds up to 64.
How do you get items out of a bundle?
Right-click the bundle in your inventory - items come out most-recently-added first, like a stack. You cannot cherry-pick the middle, so put the things you will need soon in last.
Are bundles worth it in Minecraft?
Yes for exploration: they collapse dozens of one-off items - seeds, flowers, dyes, gems, nuggets - into a single inventory slot. For bulk storage of one item type, a shulker box or chest is still better.
