Step by step

Craft the ender chest: 8 obsidian in a ring around 1 eye of ender in the center.
Place the ender chest and open it with the use control. A solid block above it stops it from opening.
Use it like a normal chest, but every ender chest in the world, in any dimension, shares the same contents for you. Other players see their own contents, never yours.
Items inside stay even if you die. If the ender chest is destroyed, its items are not dropped and can be retrieved by accessing or placing another ender chest.
To move it, mine it with a Silk Touch pickaxe: it drops itself. Without Silk Touch it drops 8 obsidian.
For more space, put shulker boxes inside it: 27 shulker boxes raise the storage to 729 slots.
Piglins become hostile toward players who open or break an ender chest.

Java vs Bedrock

Ender chests have 27 slots, per-player contents and a link across all dimensions. They do not combine into double chests and do not interact with hoppers, droppers or comparators. Donkeys, mules and llamas cannot carry them, and the ender dragon can still destroy them.
