Armor Stand
Decoration Stack: 16 Since 1.8 (2014)
Quick answer: Craft it: 6 sticks + 1 smooth stone slab (smooth stone comes from smelting stone a second time).
How to get it
- Craft it: 6 sticks + 1 smooth stone slab (smooth stone comes from smelting stone a second time)
- Fully renewable: sticks from planks, smooth stone from cobblestone smelted twice
- It is an entity, not a block - place it on solid ground with room above
Uses
- Display armor, mob heads, carved pumpkins and elytra: use the item on the stand, use again with an empty hand to take it back
- Eight orientations when placing - angle your body to face the stand the way you want
- Arms: Bedrock stands have arms by default and can hold any item; in Java, arms need the ShowArms NBT tag (commands or editors)
- Posing: in Bedrock, sneak + use cycles through preset poses; in Java, poses require commands
- Redstone toy: stands are living entities - pistons push them, water drags them, fishing rods pull them, slime blocks bounce them
Renewability
Renewable: sticks and stone are farmable.
Java vs Bedrock
Big edition gap: Bedrock stacks to 64 and has arms and poses built in; Java stacks to 16 and needs commands for both. Java stands have 20 health, Bedrock ones 6.
