Blast Furnace
Utility block Stack: 64 Since Java 1.14 (snapshot 18w44a) / Bedrock 1.9.0 experimental
Quick answer: Craft it: 5 iron ingots (full top row + middle sides), 1 furnace in the center, 3 smooth stone along the bottom.
How to get it
- Craft it: 5 iron ingots (full top row + middle sides), 1 furnace in the center, 3 smooth stone along the bottom
- Find one generating in village armorer houses and steal it with any pickaxe
- Also generates in trail ruins
Uses
- Smelts ores, raw metals and metal tools/armor twice as fast as a furnace - 5 seconds per item instead of 10
- Cannot cook food or smelt stone, sand or clay - that is what the smoker and normal furnace are for
- Job site block for the armorer villager - iron armor, shields and bell trades
- Emits light level 13 while lit, and hoppers can automate input, fuel and output
Renewability
Fully renewable: iron from farms, smooth stone from smelted stone, furnaces from cobblestone.
Java vs Bedrock
Same recipe and speed in both editions. Fuel burns at double rate, so each coal still smelts the same 8 items - you save time, not fuel. Like the smoker, Bedrock added it experimentally in 1.9.0 and made it functional in 1.11.0.
