Firework Rocket
Utility Stack: 64 Since 1.4.6 (2012); elytra boost: 1.11.1
Quick answer: Craft it: 1 paper + 1-3 gunpowder makes 3 rockets - more gunpowder means longer flight duration (up to 3).
How to get it
- Craft it: 1 paper + 1-3 gunpowder makes 3 rockets - more gunpowder means longer flight duration (up to 3)
- Add firework stars (up to 7) in the remaining slots for colored, shaped, damaging explosions
- Farm the inputs: sugar cane for paper, creepers for gunpowder - a creeper farm is an elytra fuel station
Uses
- Elytra boosting: use a rocket mid-glide to propel yourself at 33.5 blocks per second - flight duration 1/2/3 boosts for roughly 1.5/2/2.5 seconds
- NEVER boost with a star-loaded rocket: the explosion damages YOU on detonation. Keep a separate stack of plain paper+gunpowder rockets for flying
- Crossbow ammo: rockets fired from crossbows only deal damage if they carry firework stars, and more stars mean more damage; Multishot fires 3 at once, Piercing does nothing to them
- Launch by hand or from dispensers for celebrations - and remember using a firework while gliding snaps every lead attached to you
Renewability
Renewable without stars (paper + gunpowder are farmable); star effects need finite rarities like diamonds or heads for the fancy trails.
Java vs Bedrock
Same crafting and boosting in Java and Bedrock. Explosion damage from star rockets applies to the boosting player in both editions - the plain-rocket rule for elytra is universal.
