- Mine nether gold ore with any pickaxe - drops 2-6 gold nuggets (up to 24 with Fortune III)
- Kill zombified piglins (drop nuggets, occasionally ingots)
- Loot bastions, ruined portals, shipwrecks and buried treasure
Uses
- Barter with piglins: throw an ingot for random loot (ender pearls, obsidian, quartz...)
- Craft golden tools, armor, clocks, golden apples, powered rails and gold blocks
- Golden carrots (8 nuggets + carrot) - one of the best foods
- Craft netherite ingots: 4 gold + 4 netherite scraps

Yes, via zombified piglin farms and bartering
Java vs Bedrock
Identical in Java and Bedrock. Piglins in the Nether become hostile unless you wear at least one piece of gold armor - gold's most important 'use' is wearing it there.
