Uses
- Eat it (even at full hunger): 4 hunger, 9.6 saturation, Absorption I for 2 minutes and Regeneration II for 5 seconds
- Cure zombie villagers: splash Potion of Weakness + golden apple, then wait a few minutes
- Tame (+10% chance), breed, heal and speed up growth of horses
- Emergency heal in boss fights and PvP - the absorption hearts absorb damage before your real health
Renewability
Fully renewable: gold from zombified piglin farms, apples from oak and dark oak leaves or farmer trades.
Java vs Bedrock
On Bedrock, eating several in a row stacks Absorption up to 8 extra hearts; on Java it just refreshes. Cannot be turned into an enchanted golden apple on either edition.
