Music Disc
Utility Stack: 1 (does not stack) Since Alpha 1.0.14 (first two discs)
Quick answer: The classic farm: get a skeleton (or stray, bogged, parched) to land the killing blow on a creeper - it drops a random disc from the 12-disc pool (13, cat, blocks, chirp, far, mall, mellohi, stal, strad, ward, 11, wait).
How to get it
- The classic farm: get a skeleton (or stray, bogged, parched) to land the killing blow on a creeper - it drops a random disc from the 12-disc pool (13, cat, blocks, chirp, far, mall, mellohi, stal, strad, ward, 11, wait)
- Chest loot: 13 and cat in monster rooms (21.5%), woodland mansions (21.8%) and ancient cities (16.1%); Pigstep only in bastion remnants (5.6%); otherside in monster rooms, strongholds and ancient cities; Bounce in mineshaft chests inside sulfur caves (42.1%)
- Special discs: Relic by brushing suspicious gravel in trail ruins (8.3%); Precipice, Creator and Creator (Music Box) from trial chambers vaults, ominous vaults and pots; 5 is crafted from 9 disc fragments found in ancient cities (29.8%)
- Kills with style: a ghast killed by your deflected fireball always drops Tears, and a chicken jockey drops Lava Chicken if you kill the rider before the chicken
Uses
- Play it in a jukebox; press use again to eject
- A playing jukebox emits a redstone signal, and a comparator reads a different strength per disc - disc detectors for secret doors
- A jukebox makes allays dance: give a dancing allay an amethyst shard to duplicate it (5 minute cooldown)
- Hoppers and droppers can insert and extract discs for fully automatic music
Renewability
Renewable via creeper farms funnelled into skeleton kills.
Java vs Bedrock
Same mechanics in Java and Bedrock. In Java, a wither skeleton can only credit disc drops through flaming-TNT tricks, never bow kills.
