How to get it

• Mine iron ore or deepslate iron ore with a stone pickaxe or better: 1 raw iron per ore
• Fortune adds up to 3 extra units (4 total at Fortune III); Silk Touch drops the block instead
• Craft a block of raw iron back into 9 - compact storage for long mining trips

Uses

• Smelt in a furnace or blast furnace into iron ingots - the most-used metal in the game
• Store 9 at a time as blocks of raw iron to save chest space
• Blast furnaces smelt it twice as fast: build one the moment you have 3 smooth stone

Renewability

Renewable in practice: iron golem farms skip the ore entirely, but ore veins are effectively endless.
