- Loot them from mineshafts, villages, igloos and strongholds as you explore
- Charcoal is your friend on day one: smelt a log if you have not found coal yet
Uses
- Light level 14: mob-proof your base and caves one torch at a time
- Mark your path underground - right-hand wall on the way in, so left leads home
- Break gravel and sand towers instantly by placing a torch under the falling column
- Craft lanterns and jack o'lanterns when you graduate to prettier lighting
