Wither Skeleton Skull

Material Stack: 64 Since 1.4.2 (Pretty Scary Update)

How to get it

• Kill wither skeletons in Nether fortresses: 2.5% base drop chance, player or tamed wolf kills only
• Looting raises it to 5.5% max in Java (+1%/level) and 8.5% in Bedrock (+2%/level)
• A wither skeleton killed by a charged creeper always drops its skull - one per explosion in Java, all of them in Bedrock

Uses

• 3 skulls + 4 soul sand/soil in a T shape summon the Wither boss
• Wearable as a head (and it reduces wither skeleton detection range, like other mob heads)
• Decoration and note block sounds: a skull on a note block plays wither skeleton sounds

Renewability

Renewable: wither skeletons spawn endlessly on fortress nether bricks, so skull farms exist.

Java vs Bedrock

Looting scaling differs: Java +1% per level (5.5% max), Bedrock +2% per level (8.5% max).
