Deserts, uncommonly, at any light level in Java or 7 and below in Bedrock. One guaranteed camel sits in the center of every non-abandoned desert village and never despawns.

| Saddle | 1 | Only if the camel was saddled |
| Experience | 1-3 | Only when killed by a player or tamed wolf |
How to kill Camel
It never fights back and drops only 1-3 experience plus its saddle if it wore one. At 16 hearts it takes a while, and it flees when hurt.
Behavior
Wanders, sits down for 2-7 seconds, steps over 1.5-block walls and fences without jumping, and takes half fall damage after a safe 6-block fall. Naturally tame: saddle it and up to two players can ride, with the passenger unable to hurt the driver. Sprint by double-tapping forward; the dash (jump key) launches it up to 12 blocks forward every 2.75 seconds. Riders sit high enough that zombies, vindicators, hoglins and most melee mobs cannot reach them.
Taming and breeding
Naturally tame - no taming needed. Breeds with cactus (which also heals 2 HP); the baby follows the adults and grows in 20 minutes.
