How to find Glow Squid
Underground water in total darkness below Y=30: aquifers, caves, canyons and ocean depths. In Java not in sulfur caves or deep dark; in Bedrock anywhere underground except deep dark, with extra weight in mangrove swamps.
Spawn conditions: Schools of 4-6 in Java (2-4 in Bedrock) in water at light level 0 below Y=30; 5% spawn as babies. Darkness is required since 1.18.2 in both editions.

How to kill Glow Squid
Drops 1-3 glow ink sacs, the only source - kill it or let it suffocate out of water. Axolotls hunt glow squids, so an axolotl farm does the job for you.
Behavior
Swims aimlessly and shoots a turquoise ink cloud when attacked, like a squid. Its luminescent texture is purely visual - it emits NO actual light and does not stop mob spawns. Suffocates out of water and cannot be bred or leashed.
Taming and breeding
Cannot be tamed or bred. Glow ink sacs make glowing sign text and glow item frames - that is the whole point of farming them.
