Minecraft Skin Maker

A free skin editor that runs 100% in your browser. Paint the unfolded 64x64 texture map, watch the model update live, then download a game-ready PNG. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.

Hover the map to see which body part each region belongs to. The second layer (hat, jacket, sleeves) sits below the base layer on the map.

Overlay layers (hat, jacket, sleeve, pant) show on top, exactly like in game.

How to use the skin editor

  1. Start from a base. The editor loads our neutral mannequin template. To edit an existing skin instead, click Import PNG and choose a 64x64 (or legacy 64x32) skin file.
  2. Paint the map. The big canvas is the real skin file, unfolded. Every labeled box is one face of the model: head, torso, arms and legs, plus the overlay "second layer" regions used for hats, jackets and loose clothing. Pick a color, choose the pencil or fill bucket, and draw. Use zoom and the grid for detail work.
  3. Watch the preview. Front, side and back views re-render on every stroke, so what you paint is exactly what you get in game.
  4. Download and apply. Click Download skin to save a standard 64x64 PNG. On Java Edition, add it in the Minecraft Launcher under the Skins tab. On Bedrock, imported skins need a skin pack; the character creator is the supported route on most platforms.

Tips for better skins

FAQ

Is this Minecraft skin maker free?

Yes. The editor runs entirely in your browser: no download, no account, no cost, and your skin file never leaves your device.

What size is a Minecraft skin?

Modern skins are 64x64 PNG files. Pre-1.8 skins are 64x32; importing one converts it to the modern layout automatically (the right arm and leg are mirrored onto the left side).

How do I use the skin I made?

Download the PNG. On Java Edition, open the Minecraft Launcher, go to Skins, and add the file. On Bedrock, file-based skins require a custom skin pack or the character creator import where available.

Does it work with the slim (Alex) arm model?

The editor paints the classic 4-pixel arm layout. The game renders the slim model by using the inner 3 columns of each arm face, so paint there and the skin looks right on both.

Can I edit a skin I downloaded elsewhere?

Yes - use Import PNG to load any 64x64 or 64x32 skin and keep editing. Only use skins you have the rights to modify.

Does this tool use official Minecraft textures?

No. The starter template is our own neutral mannequin drawn from scratch. No Mojang textures or characters are included, and anything you paint or import stays on your device.
