Old Growth Pine Taiga
Overworld (surface)
The mega taiga: ancient 2x2 spruce trunks shaped like arrows, rising from a floor of podzol, coarse dirt and mossy cobblestone boulders. No villages, no outposts - just ferns, sweet berries, mushrooms, black wolves, and trail ruins buried under the giants.

Resources
- Spruce logs by the stack: 2x2 trunks are the densest wood source in the game
- Podzol and coarse dirt for mushroom farms and paths
- Mossy cobblestone boulders - free mossy blocks without crafting
- Sweet berries, ferns, large ferns, dead bushes and common mushrooms
Mobs
- Black wolves (tameable), foxes and rabbits (Java)
- Zombie villagers spawn here at the highest rate of any biome (Java)
- Standard hostile mobs under the dark canopy at night
Structures
- Trail ruins for archaeology - brush gravel for pottery sherds and templates
- Abandoned camps sometimes generate here
- No villages, no pillager outposts
Why go
- The fastest big-tree wood farm: pillar up one mega spruce and come down with stacks
- Trail ruins archaeology without digging in deserts
- A moody, foggy build palette: podzol, mossy cobble, giant trunks
Tips
- Podzol only drops with Silk Touch; everything else turns to dirt.
- Carve a spiral staircase around a 2x2 trunk instead of pillaring: safer and faster.
- Snow can dust treetops above Y=200 on slopes - free 'winter' builds if you stack the terrain.
