Wooded Badlands
Overworld (dry/warm)
The forested cousin of the badlands: terracotta mesas capped with grass, coarse dirt and small oak groves. You get the badlands loot - terracotta strata, gold, surface mineshafts - with wood and shade on top.

Resources
- Oak wood and saplings - the only badlands variant with real trees
- Terracotta strata in orange, red, yellow, white, brown and light gray
- Gold ore at extra-high elevations, like all badlands
- Leaf litter, dead bushes, cactus and cactus flowers
Mobs
- Armadillos - brush them for scutes; striped wolves spawn only here
- Rabbits and standard warm-biome wildlife
- No rain ever: hostile mobs burn normally at sunrise
Structures
- Badlands mineshafts exposed on the surface with dark oak supports
- Abandoned camps
- Lush caves almost always generate underneath - and the deep dark has a high chance below that
Why go
- Badlands resources plus a renewable wood supply in one biome
- Surface mineshafts: instant rails, chests and cave spider spawners
- Six terracotta colors by the stack for builders
- Dig straight down for lush caves, then deep dark and ancient cities
Tips
- The treed cap sits on the plateaus - descend the mesa walls for the terracotta bands
- Pack water and food: zero rain, sparse animals, lots of cactus
- Cave spider spawners in the mineshafts poison on Normal and Hard - milk or honey bottles fix that
- The grass-and-oak top makes this the easiest badlands to actually live in
