Minecraft /clone command
Java EditionBedrock EditionSince Java 1.8 (14w03a) / Pocket v0.16.0
Quick answer: Copies all the blocks in one region to another location. Syntax:
clone <begin> <end> <destination> [replace|masked|filtered <filter>] [force|move|normal]/clone duplicates a rectangular region of the world - buildings, redstone, farms - to new coordinates. The three modes control overlap behavior: normal refuses to clone onto itself, force allows overlapping copies, and move deletes the original after copying. Masked skips air blocks, replace copies everything including air, and filtered copies only the block type you name.
Syntax
| Edition | Syntax |
|---|---|
| Java | clone <begin> <end> <destination> [replace|masked|filtered <filter>] [force|move|normal] |
| Bedrock | clone <begin: x y z> <end: x y z> <destination: x y z> [maskMode: MaskMode] [cloneMode: CloneMode] |
Targets / arguments: Block regions defined by two opposite corners. Requires: Cheats enabled / operator level 2 (Java), 1 (Bedrock).
Examples
/clone 10 60 10 20 70 20 100 60 100Copy the region between the two corners to coordinates 100 60 100
/clone 10 60 10 20 70 20 100 60 100 masked moveMove a building without copying its air, deleting the original
/clone 0 60 0 16 70 16 32 60 32 filtered minecraft:stone_bricksCopy only the stone bricks in the region
Tips
- The destination is the lowest-northwest corner of the copy.
- The clone volume is capped by the max_block_modifications game rule (32,768 blocks by default in Java) - split big builds into sections.
- Combine with structure blocks or command blocks for repeatable copy-paste contraptions.
