How to Get Pink Petals in Minecraft

Guide Java Bedrock

Quick answer: Pink petals grow on the ground in cherry grove biomes - break them with anything (they drop one item per petal in the spot, up to 4). Farm them with bone meal: each use adds a petal to the spot, and at 4 petals it pops off a free copy.

What you need

Nothing to collect them - bare hands work
Bone meal for farming (a composter or skeleton drops keep you stocked)
Saplings (oak, birch or cherry) if you want the bee nest trick

Step by step

Find a cherry grove - the pink-leafed mountain biome. Pink petals generate scattered on the grass there, 1 to 4 per block.
Break them by hand or with any tool: they break instantly and drop exactly as many items as petals were placed in that spot.
Farm them: use bone meal on a pink petal block and the petal count rises by 1. Once it holds 4, each extra bone meal pops off a copy of the petal - infinite petals from one starter.
Java only bonus: bone meal on grass blocks inside a cherry grove also grows fresh pink petals nearby (this does not work on Bedrock).
Craft pink dye: one pink petal makes one pink dye, shapeless - the cheapest pink dye in the game.
Bonus use: bees pollinate pink petals and can be bred with them. Oak, birch and cherry saplings grown within 2 blocks of pink petals have a 5% chance to sprout a bee nest with 2-3 bees - free honey starter.

Java vs Bedrock

The bone-meal-on-grass trick that grows new petals in cherry groves is Java only (Bedrock bug MCPE-168074). Everything else works the same in both editions.

Versions: Added in Java 1.20 and Bedrock 1.20.0 (Trails & Tales, 2023) together with the cherry grove biome.

Frequently asked questions

Can you farm pink petals?

Yes - bone meal adds petals to an existing pink petal block, and at the maximum of 4 petals each extra bone meal drops a free copy. One petal plus bone meal is infinite petals.

What are pink petals used for?

Decoration (up to 4 petals per block on most dirt-type blocks), pink dye, breeding bees, and the 5% bee nest chance on saplings grown next to them.

Do pink petals regrow naturally?

No natural regrowth, but they are renewable through bone meal - on the petals themselves in both editions, and on cherry grove grass in Java.
