Java vs Bedrock
Black dye works for dark prismarine in Java and Bedrock. Bedrock also accepts an ink sac in the center; use black dye for a recipe that works in both editions. The brick recipe uses nine shards in both editions.

Frequently asked questions
Can I dye an existing prismarine block?
No. Craft dark prismarine from eight prismarine shards and one black dye, not a prismarine block.
Do prismarine crystals work in these recipes?
No. Dark prismarine and prismarine bricks use shards. Keep crystals for other recipes such as sea lanterns.
Can I use an ink sac instead of black dye?
Bedrock accepts an ink sac, but current Java uses black dye. Craft the ink sac into black dye for the shared recipe.
