How to Make Nether Bricks in Minecraft

Guide Java Bedrock

Quick answer: Smelt netherrack into nether brick items, then craft four items in a 2x2 square for one nether bricks block. For red nether bricks, combine two nether brick items and two nether wart in a diagonal 2x2 pattern. Smelting the ordinary block makes cracked nether bricks.

What you need

Step by step

  1. Mine netherrack and put it in a furnace with fuel. Each netherrack makes one nether brick item.
  2. Arrange four nether brick items in a 2x2 square in the inventory or crafting table to get one nether bricks block.
  3. For red nether bricks, put two brick items on one diagonal of a 2x2 square and two nether wart on the other diagonal. This makes one red block.
  4. For cracked nether bricks, smelt an ordinary nether bricks block in a furnace. Do not confuse this with smelting netherrack into the item.
  5. Use a stonecutter with ordinary nether bricks for stairs, slabs, walls or the chiseled variant. Two nether brick slabs stacked vertically also craft one chiseled block.
  6. Collect placed nether bricks with any pickaxe. Nether fortresses offer an alternative source of the ordinary blocks.

Java vs Bedrock

The basic, red and cracked recipes work in Java and Bedrock. Any pickaxe collects the blocks; mining without one gives nothing. Nether brick items and nether bricks blocks are different ingredients.
