How to Make a Potion of Oozing in Minecraft
Guide Java Bedrock
What you need
- Brewing stand + blaze powder fuel
- Nether wart + water bottles (for awkward potions)
- 1 slime block (9 slimeballs)
- Gunpowder / dragon's breath (optional, splash and lingering)
Step by step
- Set up a brewing stand and fuel it with blaze powder.
- Brew water bottles with nether wart to make awkward potions, the base for almost every potion.
- Craft a slime block from 9 slimeballs, dropped by slimes in swamps and slime chunks.
- Place up to 3 awkward potions in the bottom slots of the brewing stand.
- Put the slime block in the ingredient slot on top.
- Wait 20 seconds. You now have potions of Oozing that last 3 minutes.
- Optional: add gunpowder for splash potions, then dragon's breath for lingering potions. This effect cannot be extended or amplified.
Java vs Bedrock
Oozing was added in 1.21 in both editions and is brewed the same way in each, with no extended or level II version. Its real use is slime farms: splash Oozing on packed mobs before killing them and every death doubles into two medium slimes, multiplying slimeball output fast.
Versions: javabedrock
Frequently asked questions
What does the Oozing effect do?
When a mob with Oozing dies, it spawns two medium slimes where it fell. The potion gives the effect for 3 minutes, so splash it on mobs right before you kill them.
What is Oozing good for?
Farming slimeballs. Applying Oozing to mobs in a kill chamber turns every kill into two extra medium slimes, which split into small slimes and drop slimeballs when killed.
Can you extend an Oozing potion?
No. Oozing has no extended or enhanced version. Redstone and glowstone do nothing to it. Gunpowder makes the splash version and dragon's breath the lingering one.
