How to Make a Potion of Wind Charging in Minecraft
Guide Java Bedrock
What you need
- Brewing stand + blaze powder fuel
- Nether wart + water bottles (for awkward potions)
- 1 breeze rod (from breezes in trial chambers)
- Gunpowder / dragon's breath (optional, splash and lingering)
Step by step
- Set up a brewing stand and fuel it with blaze powder.
- Brew water bottles with nether wart to make awkward potions, the base for almost every potion.
- Get a breeze rod by killing a breeze in a trial chambers combat room.
- Place up to 3 awkward potions in the bottom slots of the brewing stand.
- Put the breeze rod in the ingredient slot on top.
- Wait 20 seconds. You now have potions of Wind Charging that last 3 minutes.
- Optional: add gunpowder for splash potions, then dragon's breath for lingering potions. This effect cannot be extended or amplified, so skip the redstone and glowstone.
Java vs Bedrock
Wind Charging was added in 1.21 in both editions and is brewed the same way in each. It has no extended or level II version. The Wind Charged effect is a mob-farm tool: splash it on farm mobs and their death bursts scatter the rest, or drink it yourself so your own death knocks attackers away in PvP.

When a mob or player with Wind Charged dies, they release a wind burst that launches nearby entities back, like a breeze wind charge. The effect lasts 3 minutes from the potion.
How do you get a breeze rod?
Kill breezes, the floating hostile mobs found in trial chambers. Breeze rods also craft wind charges, the mace, and flow armor trim duplication ingredients are separate.
Can you extend a Wind Charging potion?
No. Wind Charging has no extended or enhanced version. Redstone and glowstone do nothing to it. Gunpowder still makes the splash version and dragon's breath the lingering one.
