Stack a tower: use scaffolding on scaffolding to climb upward fast - each block lands on top of the column.
Climb it: stand inside and hold jump to rise, sneak to descend. It works like a ladder you can stand inside, with a solid platform on top.
Build bridges sideways: scaffolding extends up to 6 blocks out from the nearest supported block - a 7th falls and can form a new support column on the ground below.
Use it as a work platform: mobs and players can stand on the top face, and you can place blocks against scaffolding from any angle.
Demolish in one hit: break the bottom block and every scaffolding above it breaks and drops as items - cleanup takes seconds.
Burn the leftovers only in a pinch: scaffolding works as furnace fuel but it is weak - each block smelts just 0.25 items, so a whole stack handles about 16.
