Piglin Bartering in Minecraft: Full Loot Table with Chances

Guide Java Bedrock

Quick answer: Piglins accept gold ingots and throw back one of 19 items: ender pearls (2-4, about 2.13%), iron nuggets (10-36), nether quartz (5-12), string (3-9), obsidian, crying obsidian (1-3), fire charges, leather, soul sand, nether brick, gravel (8-16), blackstone (8-16), arrows or spectral arrows (6-12), water bottles, dried ghasts, Fire Resistance potions and splash potions, Soul Speed iron boots and Soul Speed enchanted books (about 1.07%, the rarest barter).

What you need

Step by step

  1. Give a gold ingot to an adult piglin by throwing it or using it on the piglin; it examines the ingot for about 6 seconds (Java) or 8 seconds (Bedrock), then throws an item back.
  2. Common barters (about 8.53% each): obsidian, fire charge, crying obsidian (1-3), leather (2-4), soul sand (2-8), nether brick (2-8), spectral arrows on Java or arrows on Bedrock (6-12), gravel (8-16) and blackstone (8-16).
  3. Uncommon barters: string (3-9) and nether quartz (5-12) at about 4.26% each; water bottle, dried ghast, iron nuggets (10-36) and ender pearls (2-4) at about 2.13% each.
  4. Rare barters (about 1.71% each): splash potion and regular potion of Fire Resistance, and iron boots enchanted with Soul Speed at a random level.
  5. Rarest barter (about 1.07%): an enchanted book with Soul Speed at a random level - on average 94 ingots per book.
  6. Ender pearl math: at about 2.13% for 2-4 pearls, expect roughly 16 ingots per pearl - a gold farm makes this the fastest pearl source in the game.
  7. Do not hit a bartering piglin: it confiscates the ingot. Killing it in one hit before it finishes drops the ingot back.
  8. Bartering is the only renewable source of nether quartz, crying obsidian, soul sand, dried ghasts, nether brick, gravel, blackstone and the Soul Speed enchantment.

Java vs Bedrock

Bartering turns a gold farm into a universal Nether supply line - pearls, quartz, obsidian and potions without leaving your base.

Versions: The loot table is the same on Java and Bedrock, except Java gives spectral arrows where Bedrock gives normal arrows. Dried ghasts were added to the table in 1.21.6. Current as of 26.x.

Frequently asked questions

What can piglins give you when bartering?

19 possible items, from common gravel and blackstone (about 8.53% each) to ender pearls (about 2.13%), Fire Resistance potions and Soul Speed iron boots (about 1.71%) and the rarest, Soul Speed enchanted books (about 1.07%).

How many gold ingots do I need for ender pearls?

On average about 16 ingots per pearl: the pearl barter has a 2.13% chance and gives 2-4 pearls. A zombified piglin gold farm produces hundreds of ingots per hour, so pearls flow quickly.

Why won't my piglin barter?

Only adult piglins barter - babies keep the ingot and piglin brutes ignore gold. Also, if the mob_griefing game rule is off, piglins only barter when you use the ingot directly on them.
