Mace
Weapon Stack: 1 Since 1.21 (Tricky Trials)
Quick answer: Craft it: 1 heavy core on top of 1 breeze rod in the crafting grid.
How to get it
- Craft it: 1 heavy core on top of 1 breeze rod in the crafting grid
- Heavy cores come ONLY from ominous vaults in trial chambers - a 7.5% chance per vault, opened with an ominous trial key
- Breeze rods drop from breezes, the wind mobs inside trial chambers
Uses
- Normal attack: 6 damage fully charged, but the slowest attack speed in the game (0.6 in Java) - weak for flat-ground fights
- Smash attack: hit something after falling 1.5+ blocks and the mace adds damage per block fallen - the farther the drop, the bigger the hit, with no cap
- Landing a smash resets your fall height: you take zero fall damage from the drop that fed the hit
- The smash also knocks back every entity within 2.5 blocks, like a wind charge burst
- Slow Falling disables smash attacks entirely - do not drink it before a fight
- Signature enchants: Density (more fall damage), Breach (armor pierce), Wind Burst (relaunch after a smash) - plus Smite and Bane of Arthropods
Renewability
Not renewable in practice: each ominous vault opens once per player, so heavy cores are finite per world.
Java vs Bedrock
In Java you must unequip the elytra before attacking for a smash to trigger; in Bedrock smashes activate even mid-elytra-flight. Durability is 500 in Java and 501 in Bedrock.
