- Smelt ancient debris in a furnace or blast furnace - one debris becomes one scrap
- Find ancient debris in the Nether between Y=8 and Y=119, most common around Y=15 (officially peaking in the Y=8-24 band on Java, 8-23 on Bedrock)
- Mine with TNT beds or pickaxes: debris is blast-resistant, so strip-mining with explosions is the classic method
- Loot bastion remnant chests for ready-made scraps
Uses
- Craft 4 netherite scraps + 4 gold ingots into 1 netherite ingot
- Netherite ingots upgrade diamond gear at the smithing table - the strongest equipment in the game
- Like all netherite items, scrap floats in lava and survives fire in item form
Renewability
Non-renewable: every scrap comes from finite ancient debris or bastion chests.

Identical in Java and Bedrock; only the peak debris band differs slightly (8-24 vs 8-23).
