How to Get Andesite in Minecraft
Guide Java Bedrock
What you need
- Any pickaxe
- 1 diorite + 1 cobblestone for 2 andesite (optional)
- 4 andesite for 4 polished andesite
- Stonecutter (optional)
Step by step
- Look for gray, mottled andesite patches among stone in the Overworld.
- Mine the blocks with any pickaxe. Silk Touch is not required, and mining without a pickaxe gives nothing.
- If you have diorite, combine one diorite with one cobblestone in the crafting grid to get two andesite.
- For polished andesite, arrange four ordinary andesite in a 2x2 square and take four polished blocks.
- A stonecutter can convert one andesite into one polished andesite, avoiding batches of four.
- Use the stonecutter for stairs or two slabs per block. Ordinary andesite also makes walls; polished andesite has stairs and slabs but no wall variant.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need Silk Touch for andesite?
No. Any pickaxe drops the andesite block.
How do I make polished andesite?
Craft four andesite in a 2x2 square for four polished blocks, or cut a single andesite in a stonecutter.
Can I smelt cobblestone into andesite?
No. Smelting cobblestone makes stone. Craft andesite from diorite and cobblestone instead.
