How to Get Density in Minecraft

Guide Java Bedrock

Quick answer: Density is a mace-only enchantment, up to V. It adds 0.5 HP (a quarter-heart) of smash damage per block fallen per level. Density V adds 2.5 HP (1.25 hearts) per block, not 2.5 hearts. Get it from the enchanting table, librarian books, fishing or vault loot; it conflicts with Breach, Smite and Bane of Arthropods.

What you need

Mace (heavy core + breeze rod)
Enchanting table + bookshelves, or anvil + Density book
XP levels
Something tall to jump off

Step by step

Get a mace first. Density only goes on maces, so you need a heavy core from an ominous vault plus a breeze rod from a breeze in the trial chambers.
Enchant at the table. Maces can roll Density up to V directly. Use 15 bookshelves for level 30 rolls.
Density books can come from librarian trades, fishing treasure and vault loot. Regular and ominous vaults can both provide Density books; check the level before combining or applying one.
The bonus is additive: 0.5 HP × enchantment level × blocks fallen. Density V adds 25 HP (12.5 hearts) on a 10-block fall before other combat modifiers. Damage received also depends on critical hits, armor and protection effects.
Pick your damage school. Density competes with Smite, Bane of Arthropods and Breach for the same slot. Density is the one-shot specialist: pair it with Wind Burst so every kill relaunches you for the next smash.

Java vs Bedrock

Both editions use a 0.5 HP (quarter-heart) smash bonus per block fallen per level, up to V. Do not confuse damage points with hearts: 2 HP equals 1 heart. Density does not add damage to ordinary ground attacks.

Frequently asked questions

Density or Breach on my mace?

Density adds damage to smashes, so it benefits higher falls. Breach helps against armor and also works on ground attacks. Which deals more damage depends on fall height and target defenses; they cannot coexist on one mace.

Can Density go on a sword?

No - Density is mace-only. Smite and Bane of Arthropods are the sword-and-axe equivalents in its exclusivity group.

How much damage does Density V add?

Density V adds 2.5 HP (1.25 hearts) per block fallen. Five blocks add 12.5 HP (6.25 hearts); ten add 25 HP (12.5 hearts), before critical-hit and defensive modifiers.
