How to Make a Brick Wall in Minecraft

Guide Java Bedrock

Quick answer: Place six bricks in two full rows on a crafting table to make six brick walls. A stonecutter also converts one bricks block into one wall. Use full bricks blocks, not individual brick items.

What you need

Step by step

  1. Get finished brick blocks: smelt clay balls in a regular furnace, then craft four brick items in a 2×2 square into one bricks block. Individual brick items are not the input for this recipe.
  2. Gather six bricks blocks for the crafting-table recipe.
  3. Fill two horizontal rows of the crafting table with the six blocks. Take six brick walls.
  4. For a single wall, put one bricks block in a stonecutter and select brick wall. This gives one wall.
  5. Place the walls as borders or decorative supports. Adjacent wall blocks connect together.
  6. Mine placed walls with any pickaxe to recover them. Breaking them by hand drops nothing.

Java vs Bedrock

The crafting and stonecutter recipes work in Java and Bedrock. Both give one wall per bricks block. Use full bricks blocks, not individual brick items.

Frequently asked questions

Is the stonecutter more efficient?

The yield is the same: one wall per block. It is convenient when you need fewer than six walls.

Why does my inventory grid not fit the recipe?

The six-block recipe needs a 3×3 crafting table. A stonecutter is the alternative for one block at a time.

Can I use individual brick items?

No. Craft four brick items into a full bricks block first, then use that block for the shape recipe.
