How to Make Mud Brick Stairs in Minecraft
Guide Java Bedrock
Quick answer: Arrange six mud bricks in a staircase shape on a crafting table to make four mud brick stairs. A stonecutter gives one stair per mud bricks block, so it uses fewer blocks for the same number of stairs.
What you need
- 6 mud bricks blocks for 4 stairs on a crafting table
- Or 1 mud bricks block per stair in a stonecutter
- Crafting table or stonecutter
- Pickaxe to recover placed stairs
Step by step
- Get mud bricks blocks. Use those finished blocks, not ordinary mud or packed mud.
- Open a crafting table. Put one mud bricks block in the top-left slot, two across the left side of the middle row, and three across the bottom row.
- Take four mud brick stairs from the output. The recipe consumes six blocks.
- For better material efficiency, put mud bricks in a stonecutter and select mud brick stairs. Each block makes one stair.
- Use the stairs for steps or decorative roofs and edges. Choose the crafting route only if you do not have a stonecutter available.
- Mine placed stairs with any pickaxe to collect them. Breaking them by hand drops nothing.
Java vs Bedrock
Both recipes work in Java and Bedrock. Four stairs cost six blocks with crafting, but only four blocks with stonecutting. The stonecutter is the more efficient route for large builds.

Yes. It gives one stair per block. Crafting uses six blocks to make four stairs.
Can I use packed mud directly?

64 mud bricks blocks with a stonecutter, or 96 blocks through sixteen crafting-table batches.
