Quick answer: Craft a bundle with 1 string on top of 1 leather. In your inventory, left-click items onto it (or pick the bundle up and click it on the items) to store a whole stack's worth of mixed items in one slot. Right-click to take items out, and scroll to pick which one.

Step by step

Craft the bundle: 1 string in the top-middle slot and 1 leather right below it. It needs no crafting table - the 2x2 inventory grid is enough. Combine it with any dye for one of 16 colors.
Understand capacity: a bundle holds what adds up to ONE normal stack. Items that stack to 64 take 1 slot each (64 sticks fill it), items that stack to 16 take 4 slots each (16 ender pearls fill it), and one unstackable item like a sword fills the whole bundle.
Insert items: with the inventory open, left-click the items onto the bundle - or pick up the bundle and left-click it onto the items. Both directions work.
Take items out: hover over the bundle and right-click to grab the most recently added item. Scroll the mouse wheel (or right stick on a controller) to highlight a different slot first, then right-click.
Throw from the hotbar: hold the bundle in hand and press use/right-click to toss the most recent stack out in front of you - handy for passing items to a friend or into lava.
Nest for mega-storage: bundles can go inside other bundles (each costs 1/16 of the outer bundle plus its contents) and inside shulker boxes. Shulker boxes can NOT go inside bundles.

Java vs Bedrock

Same storage rules in Java and Bedrock. Only the controls differ: a mouse uses right-click + scroll wheel, controllers use the Take-half button + right stick, and touch screens use taps (tap the bundle, tap the item, tap an empty slot).

Versions: Bundles were finally released in Java 1.21.2 and Bedrock 1.21.40 (October 2024, the Bundles of Bravery drop) after about four years stuck as an experimental feature. The recipe was simplified to string + leather in the same update.

What happens if a bundle is destroyed?

Its contents spill out as items, just like a broken shulker box - you do not lose them.

Is a bundle better than a shulker box?

Different jobs. A shulker box stores 27 stacks of one type each; a bundle stores ONE stack mixed across many types. Bundles shine early-game for cleaning up scattered loot.
