Material Stack: 64 Since 1.5 (Redstone Update)
Quick answer: Mine nether quartz ore: 1 quartz per ore, up to 4 with Fortune III (2.2 average); Silk Touch drops the ore block.
How to get it
- Mine nether quartz ore: 1 quartz per ore, up to 4 with Fortune III (2.2 average); Silk Touch drops the ore block
- Smelt the ore for 1 quartz plus 0.2 XP each
- Barter with piglins: about 4.3% of gold ingots come back as 5-12 quartz
Uses
- Craft quartz blocks, pillars, stairs and slabs - the clean white staple of modern builds
- Redstone parts: observers and comparators both need quartz, plus daylight detectors
- Craft diorite and granite, and use it as an armor trim material
- Quartz ore gives great XP - Fortune-mining quartz is a classic enchantment-leveling trip
Renewability
Renewable: piglin bartering produces quartz forever; ore itself is finite.
