How to get Into Fire

Find a nether fortress first (see the A Terrible Fortress guide): blazes spawn only in fortresses, both from the blaze monster spawners and throughout the structure.
Gear up for the fight: a fire resistance potion (from piglin bartering) makes blazes almost harmless.
Kill a blaze and make it drop a blaze rod: each blaze drops 0-1 rods, and only if the killing blow comes from you or a tamed wolf.
Pick the rod up. Having it in your inventory completes the advancement.

Tips

A Looting III sword raises the drop to up to 4 rods per blaze, and snowballs hurt blazes. Take several rods home: blaze powder fuels brewing stands and crafts into eyes of ender.
