Travel to the Nether and explore any biome except Basalt Deltas: Bastion Remnants never generate there. They are huge blackstone structures, visible from far away.
Equip at least one piece of gold armor before approaching: Piglins attack players without gold on sight.
Walk inside the bastion's bounding box: the advancement triggers on entry.

Tips

There are four bastion types (bridge, hoglin stables, housing units and treasure room). The treasure room type has the best loot, including a chance of Netherite Upgrade smithing templates, but also the most Piglin Brutes, which are always hostile regardless of gold armor.
