Advancements are exclusive to Java Edition. The Bedrock Edition equivalent is achievements, which have different objectives.

How to get You've Got a Friend in Me

  1. Find an allay: they are caged at pillager outposts and in the jail cells of woodland mansions. Free it by breaking the cage.
  2. Give the allay an item by right-clicking it with something stackable, like a dirt block.
  3. Drop more of that same item on the ground nearby.
  4. The allay picks the items up and delivers them to you; the hidden advancement unlocks on delivery.

Tips

An allay holding an item follows you even across long distances, which makes it a handy way to sort farm drops. It is a hidden advancement, so it only shows in the menu after completing it.
