How to Make Deepslate Bricks and Tiles in Minecraft

Guide Java Bedrock

Quick answer: Craft four cobbled deepslate in a 2x2 square for four polished deepslate, then four polished blocks in 2x2 for four deepslate bricks. Another 2x2 of bricks gives four deepslate tiles. A stonecutter makes bricks or tiles directly from cobbled deepslate.

What you need

4 cobbled deepslate for 4 polished deepslate
4 polished deepslate for 4 deepslate bricks
4 deepslate bricks for 4 deepslate tiles
Stonecutter for direct conversions (optional)
Furnace and fuel for cracked variants
Any pickaxe

Step by step

Gather cobbled deepslate by mining deepslate with a pickaxe without Silk Touch.
Arrange four cobbled deepslate in a 2x2 square to make four polished deepslate.
Arrange four polished deepslate in a 2x2 square to make four deepslate bricks.
For deepslate tiles, arrange four deepslate bricks in another 2x2 square. This gives four tile blocks.
For a shorter route, put one cobbled deepslate in a stonecutter and choose one deepslate bricks or one deepslate tiles block directly.
Smelt deepslate bricks or deepslate tiles in a furnace with fuel for their matching cracked variant.
Use a stonecutter for stairs, walls or two slabs per block. Collect placed blocks with any pickaxe.

Java vs Bedrock

The cobbled-deepslate crafting and stonecutter routes work in Java and Bedrock. Start with cobbled deepslate for compatibility with older versions. The furnace makes cracked bricks or cracked tiles from their matching blocks; it is not the polishing route.

Frequently asked questions

Can I skip polished deepslate?

Yes. A stonecutter turns cobbled deepslate directly into bricks or tiles, one block for one block.

How do I make cracked deepslate tiles?

Smelt a deepslate tiles block in a furnace with fuel. Smelting deepslate bricks gives cracked bricks instead.

Do the 2x2 recipes reduce my block count?

No. Each step takes four blocks and gives four blocks of the next variant.
