How to Make Polished Blackstone in Minecraft

Guide Java Bedrock

Quick answer: Craft four blackstone in a 2x2 square for four polished blackstone. Four polished blocks in another 2x2 square make four polished blackstone bricks. A stonecutter can make either variant directly from one blackstone; smelt the brick variant for cracked bricks.

What you need

4 blackstone for 4 polished blackstone
4 polished blackstone for 4 polished blackstone bricks
Stonecutter (optional)
Furnace and fuel for cracked bricks
Pickaxe

Step by step

Gather ordinary blackstone. Keep it separate from polished blackstone and the brick variant.
Arrange four blackstone in a 2x2 square in the inventory crafting grid or crafting table. Take four polished blackstone.
For polished blackstone bricks, arrange four polished blackstone in another 2x2 square. Take four brick blocks.
For single blocks, put ordinary blackstone in a stonecutter and choose polished blackstone, polished blackstone bricks or chiseled polished blackstone directly.
To make cracked polished blackstone bricks, smelt the brick block in a furnace with fuel. Smelting is not the polishing step.
Use the stonecutter for stairs, walls or two slabs per block. Collect placed blocks with a pickaxe.

Java vs Bedrock

The crafting, stonecutting and cracked-brick smelting routes work in Java and Bedrock. Polished blackstone, polished blackstone bricks and chiseled polished blackstone are separate blocks. Use the recipe book or stonecutter labels to select the right one.
