How to Make Rabbit Stew in Minecraft
Guide Java Bedrock
What you need
- 1 cooked rabbit
- 1 carrot
- 1 baked potato
- 1 mushroom (red or brown)
- 1 bowl
Step by step
- Hunt rabbits (deserts, taigas, meadows) and cook the raw rabbit in a furnace or campfire.
- Bake a potato and harvest a carrot from your farm or a village.
- Pick any mushroom - red or brown both work.
- Craft a bowl from 3 planks.
- Arrange on the crafting table: cooked rabbit on top, carrot - baked potato - mushroom in the middle row, bowl at the bottom.
- Eat for 10 hunger and 12 saturation - the single most hunger-restoring food you can craft.
- Since 1.21.2, you can also feed rabbit stew to tamed wolves.
- Like all stews, it does not stack - the bowl comes back after eating.
Java vs Bedrock
The recipe and stats are identical in Java and Bedrock: cooked rabbit + carrot + baked potato + any mushroom + bowl, 10 hunger and 12 saturation, non-stacking, bowl returned. Wolf feeding with rabbit stew (1.21.2+) works in both.
Versions: Rabbit stew was added in 1.8 (14w27a) alongside rabbits themselves. It held the hunger-restoration crown until 1.21.2 quietly made it wolf food too, and its recipe has never changed.
Frequently asked questions
Is rabbit stew the best food in Minecraft?
For raw hunger, yes - 10 points beats everything craftable. Golden carrots still win on saturation efficiency per inventory slot, and rabbit stew does not stack, so it is a base meal rather than an adventure food.
Is rabbit stew worth the five ingredients?
If you already farm rabbits, carrots and potatoes, absolutely - it is the natural endgame of a rabbit hutch. If you have to hunt fresh rabbits per bowl, golden carrots or steaks are less work.
Can wolves really eat rabbit stew?
Since 1.21.2, yes - rabbit stew joined the long list of foods that heal and breed tamed wolves. Poetic, given wolves hunt rabbits in the wild.
