How to find Ghast
Nether wastes, soul sand valleys and basalt deltas, anywhere with enough open space (5x4x5).
Spawn conditions: Solid block below and a free 5x5x4 space, at any light level, in Nether wastes, soul sand valleys and basalt deltas. Java: groups of 4 in wastes and valleys, single in deltas; Bedrock always single.

How to kill Ghast
Hit its fireball back: a deflected fireball deals 1000 damage to a ghast it hits directly, killing it. Otherwise shoot it with a bow. Ghasts are not undead, so Smite does nothing.
Behavior
Floats and shoots a fireball every 3 seconds when it has line of sight; it does not approach. Blocks with blast resistance 3.5 or more survive a fireball. Source: minecraft.wiki Ghast.
Taming and breeding
Cannot be tamed or bred. (The rideable happy ghast is a separate passive mob grown from a dried ghast block.)
