How to get Free the End

1. Find a stronghold with eyes of ender (throw them and follow - see our stronghold guide), fill the portal frame and enter.
2. Destroy the end crystals on top of the obsidian pillars first: shoot the exposed ones with a bow, and pillar up or shoot through the iron bars of the two caged ones.
3. Then fight the dragon: shoot it while it flies, and attack the head when it perches on the bedrock fountain. Beds explode in the End and deal massive damage to the perched dragon if you want the speedrun method.
4. Bring: carved pumpkin or keep your crosshair low (endermen), a water bucket for falls and endermen, slow falling potions if you have them, food, and your best bow and sword.
5. When the dragon dies the advancement unlocks, the exit portal opens, and the dragon egg appears on top.

Tips

Do not look at the void while bridging - build the pillar-to-cage climbs with blocks you do not mind losing, and put your respawn point on a bed in the stronghold before entering. The egg teleports when punched: place a torch under it and break the block it sits on.
