How to get The City at the End of the Game

Defeat the Ender Dragon. A bedrock-framed End Gateway portal spawns floating above the outer rim (up to 20 gateways as you kill more dragons).
Throw an Ender Pearl into the gateway's center to teleport to the outer End islands. (Entering with a trapdoor crawl or by flying in also works.)
Explore the outer islands until you spot an End City: tall purpur towers with End Rods on top.
Walk inside the city: the advancement triggers on entering its bounding box.

Tips

Bring several stacks of blocks, extra Ender Pearls and slow-falling options before pearl-ing through: the outer islands have huge void gaps. Cities with a floating End Ship next to them are the ones that hold Elytra (see the Sky's the Limit guide).
