How to kill Cod

It is passive with only 3 health, so a single punch is enough. Chase it in the water or scoop it up with a water bucket; out of water it flops and suffocates in seconds. In Java, an Impaling trident deals extra damage to aquatic mobs.

Behavior

Swims in loose schools and can swim against the current. Use a water bucket on it to get a bucket of cod - bucketed fish never despawn, perfect for aquariums. Out of water it suffocates, and it cannot breathe cauldron water either.

Taming and breeding

Cannot be tamed or bred. New cod only appear through natural spawning in their ocean biomes, so protect the local school if you rely on it for food.
